Capacity, Built Deliberately

Building the capacity that builds Africa.

Strategic Development International partners with governments, development institutions, and corporate teams across the continent to design training that transfers capability — not certificates. Twenty-plus countries. Six thousand two hundred participants. One method.

Section 01 — Programme Tracks

Nine tracks. One method.

Every SDI programme is built on the same five-step capacity-transfer method, then tailored to a sector. The result: a portfolio of named programmes, each tied to a measurable capability outcome — delivered across Mbabane, on-site at client premises, and online for cohorts across the continent.

  • 01 Finance & Auditing IFRS, internal audit, treasury management, fraud risk, public finance management for finance teams in regulated African markets. View track
  • 02 Health & Rural Development HIV/AIDS workplace policy, public-health programme management, rural development delivery systems, social-protection design. View track
  • 03 Leadership & Parliamentary Development Executive compacts, parliamentary procedure, women-in-leadership tracks, succession-readiness diagnostics for public & private leaders. View track

Section 02 — The SDI Method

Five steps from diagnostic to durable capability.

The SDI Method is what separates training delivery from capacity transfer. Each step has inputs, a defined process, and an output that the client owns after we leave. We discourage in-house training unless the client can guarantee full control of participant availability — without that, transfer fails.

01

Discovery & Diagnostic

Stakeholder interviews, capability gap audit, and a written diagnostic report benchmarked against sector peers.

Output: Capability Gap Report
02

Curriculum Design

Sector-tailored modules, real case studies from the client's own context, accreditation pathway mapped.

Output: Tailored Curriculum
03

Delivery & Facilitation

Senior practitioners lead cohorts. In-class, online, in-house, or on-demand — whichever fits the audience.

Output: Cohort Delivery
04

Application & Coaching

Workplace application projects, peer learning circles, and one-on-one coaching for transfer.

Output: Project Portfolio
05

Verification & Handover

Capability re-measured against the baseline. Internal facilitators certified. Client owns the framework.

Output: Transfer Certificate

Section 04 — Faculty

Led by practitioners, not presenters.

SDI's faculty are senior practitioners with academic credentials and field experience. Every cohort is led by an associate who has delivered the work they teach — not a visiting lecturer reading slides.

PhD

Dr. Okerue Kingsley Chijioke

Programme Director & Founder

PhD in Entrepreneurship & Leadership (University of Pretoria, 2018). Twenty-plus years designing and delivering executive education across Africa. Leads SDI's curriculum design and diagnostic practice.

9

Senior Associates

Faculty across all 9 tracks

A faculty roster of nine senior consultants with credentials including ACCA, PRINCE2, MBA, and sector-specific qualifications — each matched to the cohort they lead.

Sector Practitioners

On-demand specialist network

A wider network of sector practitioners — public finance, public health, ICT for development, MEL — engaged on demand for bespoke cohorts and diagnostic work.

Section 05 — Latest Insights

Field notes from our practitioners.

Written by SDI's senior associates and faculty. Each article maps to a sector track and a current cohort. No ghost-writing — these are the people who teach.

Start with a Diagnostic

Bring SDI in for a capability diagnostic — not a sales pitch.

The first conversation is always a 90-minute diagnostic. We map your team's capability against sector benchmarks, hand you a written report, and only then discuss whether a programme makes sense.
