Our Team & Leadership

SDI Training is built around a core team of sector practitioners who have led the work they now teach. Every programme is delivered by a named instructor with verifiable credentials — not a generic trainer. Below are the principals who anchor our practice. A wider faculty of associates supports sector-specific delivery across the eight SDI sector tracks.

Leadership

Chijioke Okerue — Managing Director & Practice Lead, Public Sector Reform. Chijioke leads SDI’s public sector reform practice and the firm’s strategy across the African capacity-building market. He has led capacity diagnostics and leadership programmes for national treasuries, reform units, and development partners across SADC and East Africa. His particular interest is the transfer of capability from external consultants to internal teams — the durability question that sits at the heart of the SDI 5-Step Framework.

Nomsa Dlamini — Director, Programmes & Delivery. Nomsa oversees the SDI programme portfolio and the firm’s delivery methodology. A former programme director at a national reform unit, she brings direct operational experience of the challenges SDI’s clients face — and the discipline required to translate diagnostic insight into measurable workplace change.

Senior associates & faculty

Thabo Mokoena — Senior Associate, AI Governance & Digital Practice. Former Chief Digital Officer at a national revenue authority. Thabo leads SDI’s AI for Public Sector Leaders programme and the firm’s AI Governance practice. He has led five large-scale public-sector AI deployments across SADC, including a national tax-evasion detection system and a citizen-service automation programme serving 14 million users.

Sarah Banda — Senior Associate, Monitoring & Evaluation. Sarah leads SDI’s M&E practice and the Donor-Funded Programme Management curriculum. She has designed and led M&E systems for multi-country donor-funded programmes across 6 SADC countries and serves on the evaluation committee of a regional development bank.

Patrick Ncube — Senior Associate, Financial Institutions. Patrick leads SDI’s banking supervision and IPSAS programmes. A former banking supervisor at a regional reserve bank, he now advises central banks on supervisory capability building and IPSAS conversion programmes across the region.

Faculty & sector specialists

Beyond the senior associates above, SDI works with a faculty of 12 sector specialists who lead specific programmes in Healthcare, Education, Energy & Mining, Agriculture, and Telecoms & Digital. Faculty members are engaged on a programme-by-programme basis, with named instructor profiles published on each programme page when cohorts are scheduled.

SDI’s faculty model is deliberate: every instructor has led the work they teach, not just studied it. We do not engage generic trainers. Every engagement names the instructor in the proposal, and the instructor is available for a pre-engagement call with the buyer.
